There are
remote corners on Earth, where the damnable-blissful
effects of civilization have left hardly any trace.
Polynesia is also a place like that, where natives are
still more exposed to the caprice of nature than the
citizens of welfare societies – and in order to protect
their health – mainly apply natural cures even today, and
select from “nature’s pharmacy”.
Morinda citrifolia
This evergreen plant is indigenous to Polynesia, Malaysia,
Australia and South-East Asia, its height ranges from the
size of a tiny shrub up to 10 meters. However it was not
this versatility to deserve the world’s attention, but
rather the unbelievably rich composition of its fruit.
It contains 18 kinds of amino acids, including
many essential ones, which the body, however it needs them,
is unable to synthesize. Amino acids are building blocks
of proteins. Minerals in the fruit – as for
example sodium, potassium, iron, manganese and magnesium –
contribute to the fulfillment of the daily mineral demands
of the body. Its vitamin content supports the
healthy functioning of the body, moreover contains other
compounds of antioxidant effects which contribute to the
protection of our cells against certain harmful effects of
free radicals. It affects beneficially the self-healing
ability of the body. One of the most important ingredients
is a giant molecule called proxeronin. Out of
proxeronin our body produces xeronin in the liver, which
is extremely useful for our body, as it participates in
several important physiological processes.
It is the
ingredient of enzymes, an effective supporter of cells,
and supports the healthy functioning of immune- and
hormone system as well.
There are many things which may increase the xeronin
demands of the body, but the most frequent effects of our
days, stress and increased mental and/or physical strain.
A certain amounts of proxeronin we can ingest with normal
food, but noni contains it in extraordinarily large
amounts.
